Most trade schools are legitimate, but you should still verify details and watch for red flags.
Red Flags
- Pressure to enroll immediately; no time to compare
- Won’t provide itemized costs or outcomes in writing
- No recognized accreditation or state authorization
- Promises of guaranteed jobs or guaranteed aid
- Large, unclear fees (origination, processing, “seats”) added at the end
Verify First
If Something Feels Off
- Step back and get a second opinion (parent/mentor)
- Contact your state consumer protection or licensing office
- Keep copies of all communications and documents
